Mae Y LLEILL yn ffilm ddwyieithog am gerddoriaeth ac ambell beth arall llai pwysig. Archwilir bywydau grwp o gerddorion ifainc diamcan wrth iddyn nhw chwarae dau gyngerdd ar benwythnos gaeafol.
Archwilir pwysigrwydd y miwsig y maen nhw’n ei chwarae – iddyn nhw fel unigolion ac i’r gymdeithas ehangach, wrth i’r gerddoriaeth gael ei recordio, ei dwyn, ei rheibio a’i sensro.
Wrth i’r Lleill chwarae’u miwsig, fe ddatgelir y rhagrith a’r twyll sydd ym mherthnasau'r band â'i gilydd ac hefyd y gwrthwynebiad sydd i’w cerddoriaeth yn y gymdeithas Gymreig ehangach. Mae’r gitarydd a’r gantores ddichellgar, Pati (Rhian Green), yn dechrau’r ffilm trwy ddwyn recordiadau nad yw hi’n gallu fforddio’u prynu ac mae’r band yn cychwyn ar lwybr fydd yn eu harwain nhw i wrthdrawiad â’r drefn sefydliadol.
Yn y cyfamser, mae’r prif leisydd Rob ( John Reynolds ) yn lleidr o fath gwahanol, sydd yn dilyn ei ddyheadau ei hun heb boeni dim am ei deulu a’i ffrindiau. Mae’r berthynas fregus ar fin ffrwydro ar y llwyfan, wrth i’r band nesáu at un perfformiad olaf gwirioneddol ‘chwyldroadol’.
CAST - Rhian Green, John Reynolds, Gethin Evans, Mathew Watkins, Iwan Roberts, Gwenllian Rhys, Nomi Leonard, Rhodri Sion, Dewi Rhys, Morfydd Huws .
'Y LEILL' is a bi-lingual film about music and other less important things. The lives of a group of young aimless musicians ( Y LLEILL ) are examined as they play two concerts over a wintry weekend. The importance of music to the individuals and the society they exist in is examined in the film as music is played , recorded , stolen , attacked and censored . As 'Y LLEILL' play their music the hypocrisy and deceit that exists between the young characters and the resistance to their music that exists in the wider Welsh society is revealed .
Manipulative guitarist and singer Pati ( Rhian Green ) starts the film by stealing the records she can't afford and sets Y LLEILL on a collision course with the established order. Meanwhile lead singer Rob ( John Reynolds ) is a different kind of thief who blindly follows his desires oblivious to family and friends. These fragile relationships are set to explode on stage as the band edge towards one last truly 'revolutionary' performance .
'Y LLEILL' is Ankstmusik's first attempt at independently producing a commercial cinematic film. Y LEILL was made with the express intention of trying to find an audience for 'Welsh cinema' and to prove that it is possible to produce small scale films that can engage with such an audience.

Between 1989 and 1998 EMYR GLYN WILLIAMS was part of Welsh indie label ANKST RECORDS. In that time he also created a wide ranging visual record of all the great bands he worked with on formats ranging from Super 8 / 16mm and 35mm to VHSC, Digibeta and all formats in between. From all these sources he has pulled together the musical memoir film that is 'Saunders Lewis vs Andy Warhol'.
Emyr calls 'Saunders Lewis v Andy Warhol' ......
' A personal ffilm..... a group portrait from a time before Welsh music was Cool or Devolved, and a ffilm created exclusively from the images that I shot and independently produced at that time augmented by words that were said directly to me. A ffilm found on the stockroom floor is the best description of the form of the film but a truer, more emotionally apt title for the ffilm would be 'Have You Seen Your Culture Baby, Standing In The Shadows ?
Among the groups who appear... Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, Ffa Coffi Pawb, Catatonia, Melys, Topper, Fflaps,Datblygu, Llwybr Llaethog, Y Cyrff, Ectogram, Beganifs,
